Karatsu in the afternoon

After spending the morning in Imari, Yoh drove us to the top of a mountain in Karatsu, to have a look at the city from above. On the way up the mountain, we stopped at a marsupial/reptile house, where we saw huge land-turtles, lots of beetles, and I held a cute little rat-like animal...

Once we got as far up the mountain as we could by car, we went walking towards the lookout, stopping along the way to feed some koi fish...

The weather is getting chillier as Winter approaches, and even some of the religious statues are getting rugged up (there is probably a better explanation for this!)...

The view from the look out was really beautiful, and through the afternoon haze we had a 360 view of the surrounding mountains and city...

The lookout attracts many elderly pro-photographers, who hang out together in between bird-watching & taking snaps with their ridiculously big lenses...

Afterwards, Yoh drove us back down the mountain and across to Karatsu Castle, to finish our one day tour. The castle was really charming and well maintained (the paint job looked pretty fresh!), and it was nice to view as the sun was beginning to set...

And so ended our little trip to see Yoh in Saga prefecture. It was really great to see some countryside, and to have a peaceful sleep away from the city, and we both arrived back in Fukuoka feeling somewhat rejuvinated. I would definitely like to visit again as the seasons change.

Thanks Yoh for showing us around!
